Math-a-thon

St. Jude Math-A-Thon

The Numerators

October 6 - October 14 2008

Math-a-Thon 2008 benefiting St. Jude Children's Hospital, in Memphis TN, kicked off Monday October 6th with the students booklets and money envelopes being sent home. being the creation of drug free America.

St. Jude is the largest cancer research center in the world. families with childres being treated at St. Jude's are never charged for the services so families not covered by insurance can just concern themselves with their children's health. The daily operating cost at St. Jude's is $1,267,449 and this money comes mainly from public donations and fundraising such a the Math-a-Thon.

One of our 8th grade students, EJ Cosgrove assembled the following number and information for us on last years compaign:
  • All Saints students raised a total of $7,535.25 for St. Jude's Hospital
  • Our top class in amount raised was Mrs. Hollister's class with $742.50
  • Our top class with the number of students participating was Mrs. Beacham's class with 75% participation
  • Our top student collecting the most money was H. Tompkins
  • Our goal is to exceed last year's number and to have a record number of students raising money
To encourage every student to participate on October 17th we will be giving out school prizes to:
  • the class with the largest amount of contributions
  • the class with the largest persentage of students participating
  • the student who raises the most money
Students can ask family members and faimly friends to pledge per problem or a flat donation. We discourage going door-to-door to collect donations. The students may keep their math-a-thon booklets, but pledge sheets and envelopes need to be returned to their homeroom teacher on or before October 14th.

St. Jude's prizes will be handed out at assembly when we receive them.

Please support your student if they wish to participate and let's make this the best Math-a-Thon in All Saints history!!!
