Special Events

School Visits:  The parent accompanies and stays with the child during the one hour school visit.  This is an important step in the separation process and helps your child make the transition from home to school.

Parent/Teacher meetings:  These informal meetings are held in September from 1:15pm - 2:30pm.  The purpose is to build fellowship and meet the teachers to hear about their curriculum.  A Parent Association member will also be present to talk about coming events.  This is also a good time to plan class activities with the room parents.

Prayer Service: We hold regularly monthly prayer services in the sanctuary for our three and four year old children.  All parents are invited.  Children with birthdays during the month are recognized and blessed by the priest during the service.

Fall Picnic:  Little Saints families are invited to attend a get-acquainted picnic in the fall.  Information will be sent home with your child.  Please consult your calendar for the date.

Riding Toy Day:  In the Fall, this event will be for 3's and 4's only.  The Spring event will be for all classes.  Children may bring a riding toy (no motorized vehicles or scooters) along with a helmet to school.  The parking lot is blocked off for the event.  This provides an opportunity for children to ride a variety of riding toys.  The toy should be marked with the child's name and delivered to the parking lot.  In the Spring, the one year old class' Riding Toy Day will be held in the courtyard.

ASWO Bake Sale:  The All Saints Women's Organization holds a bake sale in conjunction with the Bazaar.  Little Saints receives 50% of the sales made from our donated baked goods.  Please remember that attractive packaging and a recipe card help sell the item and be sure to label what it is.  Drop off your baked goods in the Kamel Life Center Atrium.  If you drop off during the Bazaar, please be sure they mark it with the Little Saints sticker.  The organization that sells the most receives a $50. bonus.

Halloween:  Children wear their costumes to class.  Masks, guns, knives or other weapons are not allowed.  Costumes should be fun, not scary.  We will take pictures.  All classes will meet for a sing-along and then parade through the church building.

Vision/Hearing:  The Texas Dept of Protective and Regulatory Services requires all licensed programs to conduct vision and hearing screenings on children who are four years and older by September first.  These screenings are conducted by volunteers who are certified.  There is no charge for this screening.

Thanksgiving:  The 3's and 4's enjoy a Thanksgiving Feast for their lunch.  The parents from those classes sign up to bring specific food items.  Volunteers help serve the children and staff.

Christmas Program:  Parents are invited to attend a musical program performed by our children.  The four year old classes will act out the Nativity story.  The dates are listed on the calendar.

Texas Rodeo Day:  This event is held in January.  Our classes study a unit on Texas with a special celebration.  The children dress in western clothes, if they wish, and special activities are planned in their classroom and the gymnasium.

Dad's Day:  Each year, we host a Saturday morning or afternoon for dads to visit Little Saints with their child.  We follow an abbreviated schedule so that they can sample a typical day's activities.  If a father cannot attend, a relative or friend may fill in.  Each child must have an adult accompany him/her.  Sometimes moms come, too, if there are siblings in the program.  The adults can trade time to be with each child.  This event is only for the 2, 3 and 4 year old classes who are better able to understand the purpose of the event.

Petting Farm:  The petting farm visits Little Saints in the spring.  The date wil be posted on the monthly calendar.  The children will learn about the animals and may ride the horse.  Parents should notify the teachers if their child has an allergy to animals.

Water Day:  This event follows the guidelines stated in the Texas Minimum Standards.  Extra supervision is provided on that day.  This special event is usually held in May and you will receive notification in advance with special instructions from your teacher.  Wading pools are only used on this day.

Mother's Day Sing:  The children will perform some of your favorite songs for their moms.  The May date is listed on your calendar.

Spring Picnic: An end of the year celebration for all families is held in May.  Please consult your calendar for the date.
